Véronique Jaquier Erard
Biography
I am a professor of victimology and legal psychology in Switzerland, working at the Universities of Neuchâtel and Lausanne, and at the School of Health Sciences Fribourg. I was trained in Switzerland in social psychology and criminology, and in the United States in clinical and community psychology. For over fifteen years, my research has focused on the health impacts of intimate partner and sexual violence against women. My work examines how social, medical and criminal justice institutions shape women’s narratives of violence and their life trajectories. My research is grounded in clinical practice within community-based settings, involving both victims and perpetrators of violence. Since summer 2022, I have served as Treasurer of the International Penal and Penitentiary Foundation (IPPF).
